What's New?
19.8.10 News of Adam and Family
Jane and I met Adam for lunch today and had a lovely catching up session. He and the family are very well and enjoying their new home. Adam is really enjoying being able to spend time with the family and he is looking very well, if a little tired, the joys of a new baby! He has not stopped working on new projects and there is quite a lot of work in prospect for the coming year, although as always there is a lot of preparation to be done before anything comes to fruition. We will, of course, keep you posted on any developments. He sends his best wishes to everyone and hopes to see you again soon.

24.3.10 Thank you message for Adam
Adam presented Rambert Dance Company with the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance at the awards ceremony on 21st March. Mark Baldwin, Artistic Director of Rambert would like to say a big Thank You to Adam for presenting the award. He did not get a chance to say it properly on the night. Jane and Karen are very close to the Company and we are delighted that Rambert have received this award, which is richly deserved. As you may know, Adam`s brother Simon danced with the Company for many years and is now a Rehearsal Director with them. Well done everyone. Click on the link below to Rambert`s website and a piece about the award, complete with photo, including Adam.

White Christmas, a great show, Manchester 1.12.09
We travelled up to Manchester at the weekend to see the show and had a great time. It really is a terrific show, if you are hoping to get a ticket I gather they are going fast and with good reason. It is a really slick and well produced show, just the thing for Christmas. The ensemble are terrific, producing some delightful 1950`s harmonies. They all sing and dance extremely well. The two leads, Adam and Aled obviously get on very well and their rapport lends great credence to the onstage relationship. Their voices blend very well. Adam gets a delightful tap dance routine, very Fred Astaire. There is a hilarious rendition of the old standard `Sisters` by Adam and Aled, who can still reach some pretty high notes when he wants too! Other stand out performances must be Louise Plowright as Martha, Roy Dotrice as the General and a wonderful cameo by Phil Cole as Ezekiel, perfect comic timing. All in all a lovely way to start Christmas.

Review of White Christmas, Plymouth. 17.11.09
Below is a review by Carol Weston, who braved all weathers to get to Devon to see the show. Thank you Carol. We look forward to seeing it in Manchester.

Back in June the idea of visiting the Theatre Royal, Plymouth to see Adam in "White Christmas" seemed a good idea! What I could not have anticipated, having booked Friday 13th November, was that that weekend would have the worst weather forecast so far this year.

As I was blown into the theatre, I met some lovely people in the foyer. Two people from Paignton, explained that there wasn`t another theatre of that size for quite a distance, but I think they thought I was quite mad coming all the way from London. I then explained why and put them in the picture as to what Adam had achieved throughout his career so far. I told them they were in for a treat. As soon as the lights went down and the overture started up, I knew everything would be fine and Adam you did not disappoint us. The whole show is very slick, beautifully designed and dressed and has that real feelgood factor. I thought the chemistry between Adam and Aled Jones was very good and the show well directed. All the numbers were well performed, the singing and dancing was excellent. I particularly loved "I Love A Piano" scene, performed by Adam, Suzanne Shaw and Ensemble. I was a bit concerned that I would keep thinking of the film and compare, but there was no danger of that, it stands alone.

On the way out we met our couple from Paignton, who said they could understand my madness and would look out for Adam in the future. All in all, a wonderful start to the Christmas period.

They keep coming in. Unsurprisingly Clement Crisp (Financial Times) hated it, bless him. Where would we be without his biting sarcasm?

Article in the Independent
I thought twice about putting this link up as I think someone got out of bed the wrong side, and I don`t mean Adam. Sadly the writer seems unfamiliar with the pressures of rehearsal schedules on director and performer (especially when they are one and the same person). I will let you judge for yourself.

Guardian Article 17.7.09

Watch out for....
Adam has recently been doing some publicity, which should appear soon. He has done a photo shoot with Carlos Accosta, which is due to be published in the Evening Standard ES Magazine. I`m sorry that we don`t know exactly when it will come out so keep your eyes peeled. He will also appear in the cover article of the July edition of Dancing Times. Two things to look forward to in the run-up to Shall we Dance.

Super Cooper strikes again.
The Carousel audience for Wednesdat evening 13th May, had a surprise when the choreographer stepped onto the stage to take over one of the major parts. Apparently Adam had a phone call earlier in the day to ask him to step in as there was a casting crisis, following the indisposition of one of the leading men, and his understudies. Adam had only recently been rehearsing with the cast and was able to take over. I am sure it was a great evening, what a hero!

New Diary 30.3.09
At last Adam has sent us a new diary! You will see why there has been such a gap, life has been a bit hectic for him in the past few months. We eagerly await the promised photos of the baby and will put them up as soon as possible.

The Japanese translation of the diary will be put up in the next few days. Enjoy

Royal Visit to the Curve
Life is really hotting up for Adam at the moment. His new production, Simply Cinderella opens this week at the new Curve theatre in Leicester. The theatre will receive a visit from Her Majesty the Queen before a public dress rehearsal on 4th December. No pressure Adam! We wait to hear whether Adam will be presented to Her Majesty as part of the visit but we won`t be pressing him for any information this week! Lucky locals and visitors to Leicester can buy tickets to the public dress rehearsal from the theatre from 2.00pm on 4th December. We look forward to hearing more news in due course. We will be thinking of you Adam.

Adam on stage in 2009
You may already have seen some of this news on Sadler`s Wells website but we now have Adam`s permission to let you know properly the exciting news about his performances next year. He will be performing in Russell Maliphant`s production Two: Four: Ten, in April. This is just for one week at the London Coliseum and promises to be a very exciting show. Then in the summer Adam has Sadler`s Wells to himself for six weeks in Shall We Dance. This production has been in the pipeline for quite a long time and Adam will choreograph, direct and perform in a show devoted to the the works of Richard Rodgers. It should be a fantastic show and we are all very thrilled that it is finally happening. Further details can be found on our Current and Future Events page so check it out and look foward to a great 2009.
